Termites attack 1 in 4 homes at some point...
With all the excess water around, once it starts to dry up the termites are going to be starting to move around more freely. The Australian Standards recommend termite inspections be carried out every 12 months so if you haven't checked your home lately now is the perfect time. Better to be safe than sorry.
Spider Facts and Helpful Hints
You may have seen a lot more Spiders around lately, it’s that time of year when you’re getting outdoors more and are noticing more spiders.
Did you know that 8,000,000 spiders can be found on average, on every acre of land on earth? Did you know that spiders cannot physically die of natural causes? If kept safe a spider can continue to live and grow larger for (theoretically an unlimited amount of time). Spiders eat up to 2,000 insects per year.
To reduce the amount of spiders on your home you should use yellow lighting out doors at night and close all blinds/shutters at night to reduce the amount of light shining out. This will reduce the number of flying insects coming towards your home and therefore reduce the food source of the spiders on your home. This will help make your home an unfavorable spot to set up a web.
Meet SCOOBY..... our new termite tracker!
Scooby has just joined the team at CPR Pest Control. He can pick up the scent of only a few termites, at up to 97% accuracy. So you can rely on Scooby to be the most accurate and consistent detection tool available in the pest industry to date.
Scooby is a 1 year old male pure bread beagle, who was hand selected by one of Australia’s leading dog handlers/ trainers based in Queensland.
He was selected because he displayed a natural ability to want to find things without coaxing from the owner, and displayed a strong drive for food. Scooby has undergone a rigorous training program, similar to that of the dogs used in the police or military. Part of this training involved dog obedient skills and termite scent recognition using a variety of different live termite’s species, unlike thermal imaging which requires larger amounts of termites to generate a heat source on microwave devices which requires movement to pass by the machine.
