Scooby can pick up the scent of only a few termites, at up to 97% accuracy. So you can rely on Scooby to be the most accurate and consistent detection tool available in the pest industry to date.
Scooby is a 1 year old male pure bread beagle, who was hand selected by one of Australia’s leading dog handlers/ trainers based in Queensland.
He was selected because he displayed a natural ability to want to find things without coaxing from the owner, and displayed a strong drive for food. Scooby has undergone a rigorous training program, similar to that of the dogs used in the police or military. Part of this training involved dog obedient skills and termite scent recognition using a variety of different live termite’s species, unlike thermal imaging which requires larger amounts of termites to generate a heat source on microwave devices which requires movement to pass by the machine.

HOW DO TERMITE DETECTION DOGS WORK?
Scooby was trained by a specialist dog trainer from Queensland; the trainer has spent many years in the Royal Australian Air Force Dog Squad and trains other dogs for narcotics and explosives. Scooby underwent an intensive training program from an accredited training center. Scooby is trained the same way Customs, and Military dogs are trained, but for live termites!!
Scooby is a pure bread Beagle, Scooby’s nose is able to smell ten thousand times better than any human. Termites emit an odour that Scooby has been specifically trained to detect.
WHAT DO THEY DETECT??
Scooby has been trained to smell live termites from various genes, but does not detect termite damage, or dead termites or their workings. This is why it is important to combine Scooby with a human Inspector as they complement each other to get the best results and benefits for you.
HOW ACCURATE ARE TERMITE DETECTION DOGS??
Studies have shown that properly trained dogs are up to 97% accurate and that well-trained teams are three times more accurate than human inspectors. They can smell termites through walls, drywall, concrete, paneling and other building materials before they have had time to do so much damage to a structure that it can be visually detected by a human.

HOW DO TERMITE DETECTION DOGS TELL YOU WHEN THEY'VE FOUND TERMITES?
Detection dogs will sit when they have found live termites and point to the area with their noses, they will wait to be rewarded. They have been taught to use their noses to point, not to scratch or dig at furnishings or walls.
CAN I PAT SCOOBY?
It is important to remember that Scooby is there to do a job, and can get distracted just like children can, however Scooby loves his pat’s and meeting everyone after he has completed his work. “NO WORK NO PLAY”
CAN I FEED SCOOBY?
No. Scooby associates food with work and is trained to respond to that, feeding him maybe effect his quality of work, for being rewarded without finding termites.
WHAT IF I HAVE OTHER ANIMALS AT HOME?
Your dogs and other animals need to be restrained or removed from the property, during the inspection and their food put away as the scent of other animals or food maybe to strong and distract Scooby from the task of busting your termites.
Remember he is a highly trained dog but he is still a dog
IS SCOOBY HOUSE TRAINED?
YES. Scooby is fully house trained just like Paul, he has a gentle nature and will not be aggressive or intimidating or jump on you.
HOW CLEAN IS SCOOBY?
Scooby is bathed weekly and groomed daily as well as being treated for fleas and ticks, he visits the vets at least twice a year for routine checkups.
